Abiding in the Vine (Hymn Sheet)
Words by Astrid Nelson
Music by Mary Faith Williams
I am a branch, and Thou, Lord, art the Vine
May I abide in Thee, O Christ divine;
I need Thy strength, for in myself I find
Fruitless I’ll be except I’m in the Vine.
Thou art the Vine, may I in Thee abide,
A humble branch but clinging to Thy side;
Filled with Thy Spirit, that the world may see
A humble branch that’s yielding fruit for Thee.
O Father, lift me up close to Thy side.
That fruit may grow and Thou be glorified;
Sometimes thru trials thou wouldst purge me sore,
But only that I might bear fruit much more.
O Holy Spirit flowing thru the Vine,
Fill this frail branch, to it Thy will assign,
That I’ll not grieve Thee, Lord, nor withered be,
But winning souls and bearing fruit for Thee.
